Hi sharon,
thanks for reading my blog! We had fun with you that day, though I returned to Vancouver with a severe case of bedbug bites compliments of my hotel. Missing the warmth but glad to be back home. Regards to your sister and be well,

RE: your item on hotel toiletries, San Antonio (Texas) Express-News, Sunday, April 29, 2012. When our bunch of "old gals" attends conventions in a hotel or whenever we travel, we always put today's toiletries, both soaps and small bottles, in a zip plastic bag in the suitcase (to-be-checked, or more likely carried in the SUV). Next day, a whole new batch appears near the sink. Those, too, go in the luggage. Why? Certainly not to be recycled, nor to be used at home, but as gifts for patients at the local VA Hospital or to help fill those goody boxes we send to the troops overseas. No towels. No robes.

Lauren, I can't let this go by without comment. From your article on Hotel Amenities, "I know Acca Kappa from L'Occitane and Gilchrist & Soames from Bulgari." A quick trip to any of these four web sites will tell you that L'Occitane does not make Acca Kappa and that Bulgari does not make G&S. Gilchrist and Soams is a manufacturer in and of itself in Indiana. L'Occitane is made in France and packaged for hotels in China. Not sure who is distributing Acca Kappa these days but you find it more in Canada. Bulgari is available through several distributors. Take the time to check your facts.Thanks.

Your reflections are beautiful, Steph, and so true. It's just a number in a journey, and it's how we travel that journey that truly counts.

Hi LK, nice article, I enjoyed reading it.
It made me reflect, and inspired me to write my own thoughts down.
.... I am proud of my 42 years on this planet, I have survived so much of what life has thrown my way. I have survived so many conflicts, personal struggles and mean comments from others. Sadly and gracefully I have already survived so many co workers, friends and family. I am so blessed to not have been stricken with terrible illnesses or tragic accidents that have left me physically disabled. I have had more than enough action and danger in my life. Almost too many heart pounding adrenalin releasing incidents, close calls...too close for comfort. I now enjoy quiet peaceful silence and would love to be bored for a day. I have endured so much stress and survived. Several times I have considered not surviving. In the end I am always a survivor a winner.
Every single grey hair is my pride, each strand so very well earned. So much I have learned. My laugh lines are a gift....I have had many many laughs - for that I am thankful. To laugh is one of the best feelings I know. My current number is just that... a number. I am thankful for my number and I hope to get many many more - especially now that I have children. Cliche yes, but you are only as old as you feel... and the older you get the more Birthdays you have!! I know for a fact that when I am 80 I will look back at photographs of when I was 42 and marvel at how young I looked! How I feel about myself is more important than how I look.
I don't want to live forever here on earth but I will do my time as best I can until it is my turn to go home. I am not afraid.
Steph
ps) you look great for 40!
